Designing a delightful and fun visual cooking experience

For a passion project, I designed a mobile app called “Whip Up”. Going with the idea of “maximizing time”, I thought of the Pomodoro Technique. It’s a timer to break work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. I thought “Whip Up” as the app’s name would be fitting as the user is cooking something quick. The Pomodoro Technique uses tomato as a visual reference so I used red and green from the tomato as the recipe app’s main colors. I wanted to use Procreate to hand draw fun, light-hearted images and GIFs.

Exploring dark-mode and accessibility

I created this animation of a runbox to display an API endpoint with a response. The current runbox, that I’m working with, doesn’t have a dark-mode so I wanted to explore how that would look. I referenced Fiserv’s brand guideline and made sure all colors were meeting Web Accessibility Guidelines.

Branding

Empowering people their voting rights

I created virtual backgrounds for a 5-day event hosted remotely by Design Sacramento to encourage people to participate in the 2020 U.S. election. The organization wanted to use bold colors and patterns to convey power in our voice, ideas, and community. The virtual backgrounds were gifted to our participants.

Rebranding to reflect community and advocacy

The Sacramento A/PI Regional Network requested a logo rebrand. They wanted the new logo to reflect their new name, Asian American Liberation Network, and convey a message of modernity, community, and advocacy. The rebrand is set to launch February 2022. The new logo will be used for web and print purposes.

Building a space for designers to grow in their craft

I created virtual backgrounds for a remote event hosted by Design Sacramento to review design portfolios submitted by designers trying to break into the industry. I created a wall of art based on the images the organization provided to me.
